Meet Joseph “Joe” Justice
In deciding who should sit on the County Court Bench, Joe’s personality and background are just as important as his qualifications. People deserve a judge who will see their case and see them as individuals, and not just another case number. Joe’s background will enable him to be the judge that Pasco County deserves.
Lessons Learned from “Rolling Up Your Sleeves"
Joe Justice was born and raised locally. In 1992, Joe’s family opened an auto body shop that served the people of Pasco and Hernando Counties. When he was young, he would spend time sweeping the floor, picking weeds, or cleaning cars at the repair shop. As he got older, he became a student of his father’s favorite saying: “You know where the tools are.” If something broke around their house, the business, or their cars, they fixed it. Through Joe's hard work, he eventually earned an ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification and has even been called to testify as an expert in this field.
Joe was the first in his family to graduate from college, but he believes so much is learned outside of school. In addition to the hands-on experience, Joe was taught three basic tenants while growing up around the shop: to be “prompt, prepared, and professional.” Although he first learned these important lessons by rolling up his sleeves and getting his hands dirty, to this day, they still come into play whether his challenge is to repair a leaking faucet or to deal with a difficult legal issue.
Joe and his wife, Petra, met and became friends in high school. Joe spent his time in high school traveling around to Pasco-Hernando football fields as a member of the marching band, while Petra was a lifeguard and local babysitter. They began dating in college and married after they both graduated from law school (Joe proudly claims that convincing Petra to marry him is his most successful endeavor). Soon after graduation, they chose to put down roots in Land O’ Lakes (now well over a decade ago). They purchased their first home together and then began their family.
Joe and Petra have two wonderful children, Juliette and Mark, who attend a Pasco elementary school. They love their teachers and have blossomed into great kids. The Justice family also have a golden retreiver, Dakota, a new foster dog, Coco, and two kittens who are sisters that they have adopted. On the weekends, you can find the Justice family at the baseball and soccer fields or enjoying time with neighbors. Pasco is truly a special place to live!
Joe’s Judicial Philosophy
Joe Justice believes that the County Court is the People’s Court. Everyone should have equal access to the courts and equal access to justice. Although he has long been told that he is destined to become a judge because of his name, he will utilize his vast trial experience, education, and knowledge of the law to ensure truth, fairness, and—of course—justice in the courtroom.
On August 18, 2020, we hope you stand with Justice and elect Joe Justice as your next County Court Judge in Pasco!
